Museum

The new museum will be housed on the first floor of the historic Kirkbride U Building (seen above in 2009 and to the left in 2011).

Update:  The Oregon State Hospital Museum is now open.  Please check out our website:  www.oshmuseum.org.

As part of the Oregon State Hospital Replacement Project, space has been designated in the historic Kirkbride U Building on the Salem campus for a public mental health museum.  In April 2009, the Oregon State Department of Human Services authorized a steering committee comprised of concerned citizens to create a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation to develop a museum in conjunction with the State Hospital.  The museum has received its non-profit designation and is working on researching, fabricating and installing exhibits for the 2,500 square foot, volunteer-run museum which will open in October of 2012.
